Valentine's Things

There was more than one St Valentine, and the association of the Saint with love was largely thanks to Chaucer in the fourteenth century. (So says wikipedia) Roman martyrs all the way to this-how did it happen?! I like the heart as a pleasing shape-my next favourite after the circle. We sometimes give each other Valentine's gifts and sometimes don't. This year I have got Andy a selection of delicious chocolates and some 'artisan' crispbreads which he really likes-they are pretty good actually! I never enjoyed Valentine's day when I was younger as it gave me a feeling of being left out and not understanding how things worked. I grew out of that feeling years ago thank goodness. I think it is worth celebrating different festivals in different ways, but not giving in to the commercialism of it all. In that light I was happy to see that Tracy was having a Valentine's swap. I was pleased to receive two lovely ATCs. Tracy's has gold pigment and a gently worn feel that I love.

I like the colours and patterns of Shayla's card.

Thank you Tracy and Shayla.

I made felt hearts with bells. Hope you have a good Valentine's day however or whether you celebrate it. I will be taking Tiger and Lily to the vet's for their boosters-they won't love me for that!

I love felt, all fuzzy and warm, and think it's an ideal medium for valentine's hearts!

Happy Valentine's Day :)

I loved Valentine's when I was a kid because we did the whole class Valentine exchange and got to make special paper "mailboxes" to attach to the fronts of our desks, which would be overflowing with Valentines by the end of the day.

I think there was a rule that you had to give a card to everyone, so no one would feel left out...

As an adult, I can take it or leave it, for the most part. My boyfriend is out of town this year, so I sent him a little care package with chocolate and message hearts and a mixtape. He sent me a package too, but I can't open it until the 14th!

LOVE those hearts with bells, Sarah! And so glad you were happy with the ATC I sent you. The swap was great fun, and I look forward to hosting another creative challenge later. Like you, I don't go in for all the commercialization of holidays or occasions. But little ways to show the folks we love & care about a little extra love, that I'm all for. Just being more creative about it, that I like too. ;o) Sending you MUCH LOVE today, my friend ((HUGS))

We didn't bother with cards this year (I think last year Malcolm gave me one that I had made!) But we did have a lovely dinner, and I gave him an Easter egg instead of a box of chocolates, as they were on special offer in Sainsbury's!!

Oh yes they will love you because when a kitty is healthy the kitty is happy.

I love the heart and I hope you know that indeed I will stay in touch with you. Many readers have written for me not to close the blog, funny how they don't comment often if at all and yet they write and write when they read the last post, but to me directly. I guess in case I am not going back and miss their requests? :)

Hugs to you and take care of yourself, Spring on its way, yes!
