This is on the way back. The satnav took me over a moor which was beautiful. There was only one place to stop and it wasn't the best view, but I wanted pictures so here they are. I got out of the car whistling away to myself, and only noticed two men building a wall after a few minutes. They were in camouflage almost so I didn't see them. They were giving me odd looks. Ah well.
Below is Tiger investigating our new housemate. A taxidermy fox from around 1910. I have wanted a fox for ages. I have five birds including a Jay, a Heron and a Woodcock. I love them. It is interesting to me to be able to look at these animals close up. I know that lots of people find it a bit odd, not to say repugnant, but to me it is like having my own natural history museum. I have lots of bones, some skulls, a seahorse, a starfish and somewhere a tarantula skin (currently lost though) and some rattle snake earrings. I suppose as well as the natural aspect of it I also like the curiosity side.
Both Tiger and Cassie spent ages sniffing and rubbing around Mr Fox. Lily chose to pretend he wasn't there. I can't wait to draw him, paint him and make a felt one-I think! I had better do lots of things with him to make the mad journey up to Yorkshire and back worthwhile! It was a strange journey-it went well but I had a few near misses-mainly other people's fault but one mine-I drove up a works exit to the motorway instead of the entrance slip road to the services, and ended up having to do a very speedy start from the muddy quagmire at the end. Scary. As I nearly got back home a man bumped into the back of my car. I was stationary so that one was not down to me! Luckily it did not damage his or my car. I am glad to be home again today. I have had the dentist this morning, then posted all my eBay sales -I sold seven items!) then visited the cattery where Cassie is staying when we go on holiday soon. It was lovely- I think she will have a good holiday!
