These eggs are from Rhian at work. I didn't know she kept chickens until today, when she brought some of their recently laid eggs in to share. We had them soft boiled, as a starter tonight, and they were delicious. It is strange, as we were only talking about how lovely it would be to keep chickens last night. I would worry about the foxes though.
Other bird news-the robin has returned-well I think it is the same robin. He was cheeping away on the fence tonight and didn't fly away even though I was really close. If he does it again tomorrow I will try to get a picture!

Yes please! A photo of the Robin would be fab! You are so lucky to have robins and foxes - they are fairytale animals! These eggs look gorgeous - eggs are my number one food - especially soft boiled and poached.
You could get an Eglu- apparently they are a brilliant way of keeping the foxes out at night x
I've wanted to keep chickens for a while, but somehow I don't think we will.
Saw a fox tonight as I walked the hounds. It stood watching us as we walked towards it before it ran off. The hounds didn't make a fuss. I don't think they could see it against the lamplight.
What a beautiful freckled egg!!!
When I was staying with my daughter just off Bermondsey St in June we saw a most horrid skinny diseased looking fox. Really upsetting.
It was sitting on the top of a garden shed.
Other than that, keeping chickens is one of my dreams too....!

I think I will have to have boiled eggs and toast soldiers for breakfast!!
Yes, she really needs to keep them somewhere fox proof. Coops have to be like fort Knox. Foxes didn't get their crafty rep for nothing!
Wonderful that last photo, Sarah... has an air of mystery about it! A fresh from the chicken egg. It would be a fun experiment to keep chicken--think of all those fresh eggs for breakfast...mmm... Happy Weekend ((HUGS))
I love that the egg has writing on it. It's a good way to keep track of the freshness, I suppose.
I wish we had foxes around here. I know they can be destructive, but they are so beautiful. Straight out of a fairytale. There was a coyote in Central Park a few years back.
Lovely eggs!
