Local Shops

When we first moved here one of the things I liked about the area the most was the good selection of local shops. Since then a great flower shop, a slightly pretentious cook shop-but good I suppose ass it does have lessons and evening events, and a lovely toy shop have all opened. There is a butcher, baker, grocer, library, charity shops, a chemist, optician, hardware shops, pet supplies shop, health food shop, cafes, a small supermarket, a card shop, two dry cleaners and a chip shop. Amazing and all well used. Below is the Halloween display in the Cats Protection League shop. They always make a big effort with their seasonal displays.Apple'n orange has a good selection of fruit and veg, often local. This weekend I bought some Jerusalem Artichokes. They are the most delicious things. Andy boiled them, then pureed them with a little cream, butter and seasoning, and we had the puree with chicken. Gorgeous!

I suddenly decided to do work today, as Andy had to go to work and I thought I might as well. I worked for about five hours I think, but got loads done-the dreaded tracking, photo sorting and printing and also assessment. Now I don't have to do it tomorrow in my PPA time-or in half term-luxury! I can now decide which other of the many tasks still remaining I feel like doing, knowing none of them are as bad as tracking. Honestly, how to generate so much more work than is necessary-make someone produce ten separate documents showing something they already know and if they had the time back from doing the tracking would be able to be that bit nearer to doing something about.

Apple n' Orange--that's a nice, catchy name for a fruit & veg! Fun Halloween display. In our town the high street is more or less disappearing, so along with it interesting window displays. Everything is moving to the two big shopping centers, it's sad really. But impressed you used your weekend to work so much and do things in advance. I do that sometimes too... then wish I had another weekend to play... LOL! Happy Week, Sarah ((HUGS))

How nice to have such a good variety of shops available. I wish those businesses much success. Maybe the coming Olympics will help.

Sorry you have to deal with so much paperwork. So senseless to expect teachers, medical people and everyone else to have to document every move just in case someone might cheat or decide to litigate.

We've also just done a Y7 reading test and CATS. Having to collate all of that as well as tracking and parents' evenings...
I'm really looking forward to a week off, but rain has been forecast. Arrghhh....

You sound pretty busy. It's sort of that time of year, isn't it? Best of luck!
