Circles

Although I love teaching, it can be a very dispiriting job when things are not going well. At this time of the year, when we are settling new children-the majority of the nursery-things can seem very unmanageable. While most children settle well, there are always the more challenging cases, for whatever reason that may be. We try our best to deal with problems and needs as quickly as possible, but these first few weeks are the ones when nothing is quite sorted out, and as such, are the hardest of the year. So, thank goodness for the weekend, and two days of relatively stress free pottering! Below are a few things from today which made me happy. Friends of ours had a baby girl in July, and we are only just off to visit them today. I bought the present ages ago, and last night I felted a little baby to go on the front. I have been felting lots of things recently and will share them soon.
The plain circle gift tag left a circle shaped hole in a piece of watercolour paper. I remembered about viewfinders in art and had fun taking a few views of our flat through the circle. It is amazing how it makes things look better without all the visual clutter round about them-I could learn a thing or two from the circle! Above is my favourite circle picture-of some large poppy heads drying in the hallway. They are not from ones I have grown, but from the market last weekend.

I combined the pictures into mosaics-or the post would go on forever!

The last circle is from the post office depot building-it made me think immediately of a bunny!

I love your felted baby and your new photo project! It's quite genius... Also the little bunny you drew on the last photo is adorable. Hope you're enjoying your weekend... you had me thinking of when as a kid I'd stress out whenever school would start. All things new are hard. Sending wishes that they all get settled and used to the school routine soon!

LOVE your little baby in a bunting- all tied up- as babies should be! Soon school will settle into do-ableness.The start is usually a jolt it seems.
when i learned how to draw I started out with circles- Everything was circles! It is a good way to loosen up.

At least you get a little time to unwind from that spiral of newness and challenge. Love your circles!

Love the felty-baby. And the planetary-pom-pom header. Know what you mean about school!

Framing makes all the difference and can turn something ordinary into a work of art. It happens all the time with children's drawings and paintings.
I hope you're having a relaxing weekend - the sun is shining today! Nursery teachers are the hardest-working teachers of all - it's quite unnerving to speak to a child who just looks straight through you :-)

I love the little felted baby! The views through your circle are great - I will have to give that a try! Hope you are getting the chance to relax after such a busy week!

Fabulous views! Love the felted baby...such a sweet idea. I understand just how you feel at school, but I guess it's much harder with such young children. No doubt you'll soon have the little ones 'sorted' and they'll soon feel happy and secure under your wings. Have a good week. Ros

Fantastic felt baby there! Love it. This post is such fun and so telling ... yeah, little kids are so tender and timorous. No map to go by, just uncharted waters ahead for quite a while as they enter this odyssey we call life. I'm sure you do just grand with them all!
Love. That. Bunny.
