Growing

The crab apple blossom ('these red things', so called by Jayden) are ready to open.

These bristles are growing in Greenwich Park. That is how it looks anyway. An elephant's foot at the base of the oak tree I went to the park to draw.
The whole tree. A Holm Oak.

My drawings of the tree and a man who happened to walk near it as I was drawing. The man was skinny and wearing a very old looking suit. He had hair in little tufts either side of his head-a bit clown like. He was interested in the tree as he walked under it-touching the leaves and looking closely at something. Danny Gregory is very encouraging when it comes to talking about drawing outside. If I was him I might have gone and spoken to the man, but I am not! This is my first go-done from the safety of my car. I only had about twenty minutes as I went for a little walk on the grass to the tree first. I found some feathers which I picked up, with the possible thought of making a headdress for a fancy dress party we are going to soon-for the 21st and 18th birthdays of our nieces. I may make a snake decoration for a dress though, and be a snake. Andy might be a donkey-for which I might have to make ears. It is all very much up in the air at the moment!

i am thinking the little prince...
and then there is the face hiding side ways in the roots...looking at your man in the silly suit with a hesitant smile.

Your drawings are wonderful! I do love that perfect tree and the bristles growing- Your outside drawing adventure a success I would say!
I rarely take my work outside because I don't want anyone to watch me. Not so much because I am afraid of criticism - it's just that drawing for me in an alone thing. It is a handicap.

I like the bristles growing in the grass - very cute!
A snake and a donkey - sounds quite a surreal partnership but then that's what fancy dress parties are all about.

So many things to address in this post! Great photos, and the "elephant's foot" - fantastic!

I love your pen? pencil? drawing of the man and the tree, but even more-so, your description of the man himself.

A donkey, eh? Oh, you shall defo have to post pictures of the two of you!

Such odd spring flowers grow in London grass (hehe). The oak tree is a beauty. No wonder you chose it for a subject. Your art work looks great.

The party sounds like such fun. Hope you post some photos.

Your drawings are so good! The "bristles" growing up out of the grass is so unusual! I'd love to know what they are!

This made me think of The Little Prince too! I love the drawing, Sarah--it has such emotion! Have you used ink there? Lovely green things growing from Greenwich Park. I do wonder what those "white bristles" are...I've never seen something like those before. We had rain yesterday--it's been washing the snow away... hooray! Perhaps we'll have green things growing soon too. Happy Day ((HUGS))
