Trees, Bugs, Beaches and Tulips

I see the tree, the tree sees me.
Oh so many little creatures curled up under this log.
They all disappeared after about five minutes.
Today we imagined days out at the beach, and adventures in boats.
I wish I did!
Lovely charcoal packaging-I went searching for this in my box of mark making materials (that is how organised my art stuff is!) and found it. I am reading a brilliant book at the moment, which I will talk about at another time, and one of the stories in it was of the manufacturer of this charcoal, P.H.Coates.
The surprise for a friend-a little painting on an old postcard, for my friend Chinmoyee. She has these Indian postcards, with little figures painted on the written side, which I really liked, and which gave me the idea for my flower postcards. She likes Auriculas, so that is what I painted. I got the postcards the other day in Rochester, and they are quite good London scenes, but I was looking for the handwriting on the back.
This is the one I painted for myself-I love tulips and they are so lovely in the garden at the moment.
The planes are back now which is good I suppose, but I didn't miss them flying overhead. We have four teachers and one of the nursery nurses stuck abroad. One in Canada, three in Spain and Sarah-who I work with in the nursery-in Thailand. She has been told that her flight will not be until at least May 2nd! That means she will have been out there for a month. I hope she is enjoying the extra time at least!

Your flower paintings are delightful - what a lovely idea to use 'old' postcards.
Hope your staff problems are soon sorted - and I really do hope the missing members aren't docked some of their pay - that would be so unfair!

i thought those flower paintings were originals from the postcards - i'm amazed how you were able to match the color, mood, and aged look so perfectly with the actual antique part of it. they are WONDERFUL!

Those are lovely paintings. They look so real, I thought they were photos.
I caught the end of Blue Peter yesterday, (using the tv for company while Mike is away). They had a fairy house/castle made from a tree trunk, delightful. You might catch it on iplayer if you're interested.

Your flowers are brilliant, as always, I am bowled over. Your ideas are so very very very cool. I was think that the little wigglies would like a boat ride and that surely there would be a mini zebra in the marker box.
The whole volcanic ash thing putting things on hold has been amusing to see what peple do- whine, or make do...I am sure that radical Muslims are blaming women for it- fundamentlist christians blaming the evils of heathens, business persons boo-hooing "why did this happen to us" sort of self absorbed whimper...I have been thinking "this is good! less noise in the sky, fewer geese sucked into the engines, everyone slowing down and looking locally for their purchases." A little shake down ! Yeah, it's good- I wouldn't mind being "stranded" elsewhere for a few years...

Your comment about crackle on the toilet seat- art or craft- made me laugh heartily! I SO get that!

Gorgeous paintings on old postcards! Well done, Sarah. I am stunned at your talent here. I'd thought they were already on the cards!

Hope all quiets down there for staff soon even tho the planes will be droning on... and on...
