Amazing!

Murmuration from Sophie Windsor Clive on Vimeo.

I saw this on Autumn Watch the other night. I have only seen small versions of starlings doing this-down at the local shopping centre, and would love to see a large group like this-amazing!
I found some proposed plans to turn my old school into nine dwellings-which includes keeping the stone buildings which is good. It did not sound like a finalised plan at all, just a proposal. Harrietsham has a new primary school with about 100 children, so that at least is good for the village.
Thanks Leenie for the Vimeo link!

Hi Sarah, unfortunately the video won't play.
I remember seeing Bill Oddie fronting a piece where he was watching starlings settle down for the night. I've been watching a small group of starlings here from time to time. I keep wondering if they will become a larger group. As I'm sure I watched a larger group in the spring.

Oh no! I might re-add it and see if it works. yes the group down the road is quite small but still good to see.

It is no longer available-because of a copyright claim by one of the film makers. Ah well, it was a good one!

Hey Sarah! I first saw this on Google+ and I have since mentioned on a few occasions how much this reminds me of a giant magnet drawing metal filings across the sky!
By the way, I'm just overdosing on the adorable in your header!

Come see my new photo blog here: http://mylittletownont.blogspot.com

What a shame the video was withdrawn! It is fascinating how they fly, making wonderful patterns.

Watched this video and it's amazing that they fly overhead. I've had a small group fly over me and it's quite strange, a bit eerie.
Meant to say I love your header.

Video works fine for me :-)

Do you remember seeing this over Leicester back in the day? They used to roost in Abbey Park and would usually do this over there but sometimes it would spill over the city centre? Of course there was an unpleasant side-effect to all this bird action and in the end the park took measures to scare them away. I wonder where they went?

We see them sometimes near us, not huge groups like in the video but pretty impressive. The noise is really amazing too. But of you're as close as those women you really need waterproofs...or an umbrella.
