I have been reading this book by Frances Horovitz . Andy told me about this poet when we visited sites on the Roman wall the year before last. Some of her poems are about these sites. She writes about nature in the most beautiful way, and her interests mirror mine so closely. Bones, birds, trees, sea, rivers, flowers are all there.
"I follow the passage of waterpetals and debris trapped in the vortices
does the same water flow always?"
(from 'Poem in Spring')
in the dawn light the language of birds
is a fine instrument
to lodge in your brain"
(from 'Poem in Spring')
a mirror hangs in the apple tree
'photograph of no one'
says the child
as a wind blows
and sky lies shattered
in the wet grass

Such beautiful calm water pictures below.
Yes, I think we need a lot of calm just about now.
Thank you for introducing me to this poet, Sarah... adding that book to my list! Love her use of language & imagery. Happy Week ((HUGS))
I'm not a great reader of poetry, but I'll check out the link!!
I'm afraid I feel ignorant where poetry is concerned. But then I do appreciate some. Mike is a lover of poetry, I must ask whether he's familiar with this poet.
delicious!
Nice post!
Awww that's so lovely. Will have to investigate that book myself. Love the photos, as always. x
Love the pictures and the words!!
I have to confess I am not a major fan of poetry but sometimes, it does move me. Like the mirror in the apple tree. :-)
