Jubilee Cake Day with Rattling On

Dawn at Rattling On had the good idea of having a Jubilee Cake day,  where we make a themed cake and share it. I thought I would do a Queen's face cake and here it is!

It is a madeira cake with buttercream and raspberry jam. Or rather it was! I used cheater's squeezy icing for the features, and mixed my own silver grey for the hair. It was fun to make!

Wow, what a great cake and what a lot of work. I'm wondering how you did the face and hair. It looks really good and I bet tastes delicious too.

fabulous! Sarah you are amazing! I would love to have eaten that cake, except for the shiny bits, I tried those when I was little and nearly broke my face!
I am all about the Queen and her Jubilee these days- I thought I was immune but NO! I even bought a harrod's bag- all blue and queenly! I miss London so much- I want to live there again...next door to YOU!

Fantastic! And yummy. Almost seems a shame to eat it (or maybe I'm just jealous that I didn't get to have a bite, too...)

Your blog is my source for all things Jubilee. I probably would only be dimly aware of the Jubilee if it weren't for your craft-oriented take on the event :)

Love it! A good resemblance too. I almost feel inspired to cook too...... that doesn't happen very often! Enjoy the half-term. Ros

I think you should send a photo to the Queen. I think she'd love it.

I wouldn't have the courage to cut it or to eat it. Sounds delightful tho, and I am with the rest, it is truly amazing the resemblance. Love it!

We have been following the festivities and I thought of you and I even told Barry how I wish we could have been in London this week because it must have been a terrific time and what fun to share it with everyone. Now, where is the recipe? anything with Madeira wine I am willing to cook.
