Parks

Bradgate Park-at dusk-my friend's son's idea-good idea! It is a medieval deer park in the middle of the ancient Charnwood forest. It is very well used, but going at dusk was great, as we had it more or less to ourselves. As we walked, black clouds moved in, making the whole place look very dramatic. The ruins in the park are of Bradgate House, home to Lady Jane Grey, the tragic nine day queen. Morris men at Bradgate Park on May day morning by my friend Rob who I was staying with. They all got up extremely early in the morning to go and watch them.

The ducks as the rain started.

A kite stuck up a tree.

A huge monkey puzzle tree.

Part of the ruins of Bradgate House.

A storm coming.

The other park I visited at the weekend was called Wollaton. Also lovely-an Elizabethan mansion up on the hill, and deer in the park. These kites were attached to the ground in big loops and looked good against the grey sky.

Oh, what a place! I must say I didn't know about the deer park... The Mansion looks the part, doesn't it?! Thanks for the sweet welcome home at my place. Lovely to be back and catching up with you, Sarah, after our travels. I think we'll need the weekend to get over the jet lag and get back on track. ;o) After being away from my studio a couple of weeks I'm itching to get creating again! Oh, must say love your new banner. Happy Weekend ((HUGS))

Dawn and dusk are the best times of the day. The creatures are on their way to, or from their meal, the air is often quiet and soft and the low light makes it difficult to take a bad photo.

The deer look so relaxed in their very own park. Kites just make me smile, even when they crash in a tree. (unless it's MY kite in the tree).

What a great break you've had. Love the chickens, and the twin grape is fab. Hope you show us the finished resin piece.

Monkey puzzle tree sounds and looks good to me. Sometimes a simple thing like kites against a grey skies can be so spectacular!

I like the dusky, dark backgrounds - very dramatic. I hope the kite in the tree was freed - such a shame when they get stuck.

The whole idea of a deer park sounds so nice! I wish we had things like that here....
