More Resin Experiments

I went to hobbycraft today, to buy some dye for a dress and a couple of shirts-all of which are now being turned jeans blue in the washing machine. While I was there I stumbled upon some silicone rubber moulding paste-two colours of paste that you mix together, and then press around whatever it is you want to mould. It dries and is ready to use in five minutes! Great for the impatient resin user. I went on a hunt around the house for mouldable things. I have done a ring, a poodle printing block, a piece of poppy head, a top of a glass stopper, a stone, and some doll hands-I tried an all round mould then made two half moulds. Now I have to be patient and wait until tomorrow to see how they have worked!
I did make a bit of a mess-but the good thing about the resin is that it just comes off of the rubber really easily and so you can get rid of unwanted bits. It doesn't come off the table-but it is the outdoor table and not very precious.
I am also making a resin picture-I have done a cloth face and put pieces of lace, pieces of fusible fibre, and a resin bird in behind that. The mould is a piece of packaging-which a drop of resin came off of ok before so should work.

You are ever the creative one, Susan. These projects look like they have a fine future. The resin picture is amazing.

You are quite the little chemist- and WhO IS SUSAN, must have been a bug in Leenie's computer. Often I will go to the "thing" shop and look at the possibilities of plastic goo that hardens on stuff. I have had many failures and spent silly amounts of cash on the promises they make...I am just not as clever as you. I am very curious to see how they all turn out!

This looks like fun! I've never experimented with resin. I hope you're having a lovely weekend Sarah :)

That looks like real fun! And peeling it away must be very satisfying... Look forward to seeing the results. Hope the dye job went well!
