SketchUp

This is a video of a really great thing I discovered tonight. It is called SketchUp and is a free programme from Google in which you can draw in 3D. I discovered it as I was waitiing for my screen saver picture of St Peter's to load, and wondering why it didn't, so I clicked on something about other services and amongst the long list was this. I doubt that I will design anything amazing on it, but the novelty of making a 3D picture then orbiting around it is great! It would be good for the older kids at school, for maths and art. I wonder if the year six teachers know about it. Or is it one of those things everyone else knows about but me? Could be! It would be really useful to look at perspective if you were doing an illustration. I once did an evening course on children's book illustration, and although I theoretically understand perspective, I can't draw it well.

Interesting video, but I agree, this looks a little tricky unless you are really fascinated by perspective and 3D. I smile because it sounds like it is narrated by Winnie the Pooh.
