Haiku Festival and a colour clash

This festival is being hosted by Elizabeth of About New York and Tracy of Pink Purl. It should be fun! Visit Tracy here to find out more. This is how I felt about red and purple a couple of weeks ago. Now I am not so sure!

The strawberries have balsamic vinegar, mint and lemon zest, with a little icing sugar dusted over them. They were delicious!

I enjoyed what I see on your blog. I, too, am, no was (now I'm retired) a teacher. I'm also an artist ---and I like cows (I like the cow photo at the top of your blog. I used to publish the MOOsletter (the international cow-lovers' quarterly featuring "all the MOOs that's fit to print.")

I forgot something. Re: red and purple. I had an art professor (tapestry weaving) who asked each of us to choose two colors of yarn we hated together. Then we passed those on to another student. Then with what we each received, we had to choose a third color to add to the first two, to make the three colors look good together. I still use that technique when I want to get out of my normal color choices for something different. Red and purple were not my favorites, either, but now I like purple, not so fond of orange, though, except when added to other warm shades.

Thanks for giving a shout-out about the haiku festival...the more the merrier! :o I love what you have done with those strawberries--the berries and the balsamic is a surprisingly exciting taste combination! Happy Days. :o)

Hi, Sarah! Red and purple can be a little strong together! If they were a bit desaturated or muted, they are a bit easier to appreciate. The strawberries look tasty! And the iris are gorgeous! :-)

Oh I love clashy combos and red and purple is one of my favourites! And I'm definitely going to try your strawberry recipe - I've had them with balsamic before and with black pepper, which is also delicious, but never with mint, lemon and icing sugar too. Sounds yummy! Hope you've had a great Bank holiday weekend :o) x

Thanks for the reminder about the Haiku Festival. I may participate if time permits. I love this post. I've always enjoyed red and purple separately, but joined the Red Hat Society a few years ago and enjoy the colors together these days too.
Hugs and blessings,
