Week of Colour-Friday-Purple

Purple is probably my least favourite colour. It kind of gives me a headache. There are certain shades of purple that are just so unpleasant to look at that, well, I don't look at them! In the same way some of the colour weekers found orange difficult, so I did purple. Still, I peeled my eyes and actually found more of it in my life than I thought! I do like some purples-very dark and very bluey ones. I found some I like-or not today as you shall see...! Ok-I admit-I bought these specially-they are just gorgeous and smell amazing. I think they are my second or possibly third favourite flower smell-after roses and hyacinths. These just remind me of a frilly party dress.
This is one tiny part of an old mosaic table I made a long time ago which is now slowly rotting in the garden. Other random purple things I have seen today include a man in a purple t-shirt with some purple flowers, my hoover, my box of washing powder, (both the shade of purple I absolutely hate), a bottle of handwash at work, my usb hub, the spine of the following books "A Thousand Hounds" and "Complete Feltmaking" and my elephant bits and bobs holder in the bathroom which is such a pretty purple and from a good friend so I love that one!
As I was thinking about purple yesterday I thought I had no purple clothes. Then I found one purple top and one pair of purple tights-I wore both today and probably looked like I was wearing an all in one purple body suit! Then tonight I found this nightshirt stuffed at the back of the cupboard. It has that combination of purple and red that I don't like but in this I do. It is such soft cotton too. TK Maxx does the best nightwear!
At Sainsbury's tonight I parked next to this Micra-and yes, I did park there because it is purple and I don't think anyone saw me taking pictures! I have a Micra but mine is silver. They are ten a penny but purple?
Going round Sainsbury's looking for something for my tea, I took more photos, all of which were awful. I got tempted by some cherries, despite the extortionate price. I commented to the nice man at the till on how expensive they were and he said that was strange, as we were next to the 'Cherry Isle'. Apparently that is a name for Kent-I didn't know that and I am from Kent! I am glad I found out though as it is such a pretty name and it is where I will say I am from from now on! I am eating some cherries now. I have eaten about £3's worth I think. This (on the cherry bag) is the purple I really don't like, this exact shade-corporate purple I call it.
My whole post seems to be Sainsburies related tonight. Going round I remembered the never changing purple of Cadburies Dairy Milk. They have new things like gigantic chocolate buttons. I went for tradition however and bought a bar.
The purple top, tights and my skirt! I also own a purple popper bead necklace but I didn't wear that.
While David Dimbleby presided over 'Question Time', mainly focusing on the MP's expenses scandal, (which you may or may not have heard about, basically lots of them have been fiddling expenses for years, buying houses for their ducks and large chunks of their mortgages), he chose to wear this rather bizarre tie-what does it mean? Perhaps he is taking part in the week of colour and we didn't know. Maybe he is trying to lighten the tone.
Finally, although this is only purple by a long stretch of the imagination, it did make me think of this quote from my favourite film.
"Come on lads, let's get home, the sky's beginning to bruise, night must fall and we shall be forced to camp." If anyone is purple in his soul then it is Monty!
Thanks to Lisa for organising such a great week and I really enjoyed visiting everyone to see the colourful beauty and words on offer. Have a lovely colourful weekend!

Haiku Festival and a colour clash

This festival is being hosted by Elizabeth of About New York and Tracy of Pink Purl. It should be fun! Visit Tracy here to find out more. This is how I felt about red and purple a couple of weeks ago. Now I am not so sure!

The strawberries have balsamic vinegar, mint and lemon zest, with a little icing sugar dusted over them. They were delicious!
