Jackdaws

videoThis is a tree full of Jackdaws in Corbridge in Northumberland. I love the noise they make, so unlike crows, so like monkeys. They were roosting, thinking it was getting dark I presume-it was very overcast. Corbridge is really pretty. We went into a craft and book shop for a browse and then into a cafe called Tea And Tipple (I think) for a drink. I had a latte and delicious coffee and walnut cake. The cafe had a lovely old map of England and Wales on the wall that frustratingly cut off Scotland. It had all the ferry distances to various destinations around Britain.

We were still a very long way from home but the map did not magically show our distance to there.

Sarah I am laughing my head off at the frightening nun.

The frightening nun is even more frightening as he is the scary as hell pope.

Love Renee xoxo

Just wait a moment and I'll fix you a cup of tea! Thanks for the stop by my place. :) I love the birds and the twisty trees and all the color. I love the words, too, "long drive back from Scotland." Oh, that trip is one I would love to make. There will never be time enough to visit every country and terrific city. I'll have to do so through my pal's photos. You caught those horses looking as though they were on a morning commute! - Jeanne in Oregon

Hi Sarah - I was a bit puzzled when I saw your new banner - I thought you had somehow used one of my photos ..... but mine is of sparrows in the hawthorn tree in the front garden waiting for breakfast!! I've already posted one version of the photo, but I have another one taken earlier in the morning, where the tree and birds are silhouetted (and it'sd before Malcolm pruned the tree) I may post it tomorrow as a shadow shot!! Love, Anne

I love jackdaws, we get loads round here, and they roost in the chimneys. They get up very early in the morning, though!

Love the photos Sarah! They are just wonderful. I like the fairy hideouts :) I'm particularly in love with the Acer trees. I'm going to see if they would survive in Montana. I might have to put that on my wish list.

I love to listen to jackdaws too, they're my favourite of the common crow species.
