Fat Betty on the Moor

This is one of many stone crosses on the North York moors-marking the way for lonely travellers. People leave money on Fat Betty for luck. I left some too-you never know...

Oooh I love Yorkshire! Glad you had a good time. I used to live in West Yorkshire... loved it and miss it still.

I love that shop at the top of your blog. I know I would find lots of things to buy there and wish I hadn't bought them when I got home. What did you buy?

I always wanted to walk on the Moors! The day I do I will be looking for Fat Betty and leave money. Glad you liked the post on the creative process.

i like your belief system.."you never know". that's the same way i think, too. fat betty may have magical qualities, you just never, never know.

Sarah, I am so enjoying your posts of your holiday! I have to see Fat Betty for myself one day. Nothing like a little change in one's pocket to make a girl feel special! (I always leave a coin for Ganesh when I go to Indian restaurants, too.)

Hi Di!
I have been to Yorkshire a number of times now and have to agree with you. We went to a wedding in Harrogate and it was on Yorkshire day. We saw Richard Whitely on the tv in the morning and he said " You can tell a Yorkshireman, but you can't tell him much" I do not remember quotes often gut that one stuck with me!
I was good Helen-I didn't buy anything-I went to the beach and picked up a rainbow of stones instead.
Let me know when you are doing your walk Shell and I will come with you! I know a good pub for lunch!
And you Liz!
Thanks Kendalee-we had such a good time!
It's true Miz Katie-she may!
I did not know about leaving a coin for Ganesh-though I do know the story of how he became an elephant headed being-sad so sad-I will leave him money now too.
