Illustration Friday link here.I have speedily had a go at this week's theme which is 'contained'. I get the email every week but have not been able to think of anything for the last few or if I have I couldn't draw it. This week this idea popped into my head and the picture has suggested lots of other words to me including potential, future, hope, faith, imagine and nurture. I do not actually have an acorn in the house, a fact which amazes me. I have umpteen shells, stones, sticks, seed pods, skulls-all sorts of natural ephemera but no acorn. So, we took a quick trip to the park in the dark. The people next to us gave us their parking ticket as the machine was out of order. I don't know what they must have thought we were up to. We found an oak tree but no acorns. It is probably the wrong time of the year. I must find out! Anyway, I used google images for source material in the end.

That is an awesome picture! I can't remember what time of the year we see the acorns. We have an Oak tree in our yard that produces them. They are gone in no time as the squirrels bury them.
Lovely imagery! Aren't acorns available in September/October? At least that's when I see them on the ground.
I love the seed/acorn idea. They contain everything needed for life...very clever idea. I sometimes cant think of an illo for the topic either, and it takes me a while to come up with it. thanks for posting up your illustraion. I love it
That's a fine image for containment. There are trees near here that have been ploughed right up to their trunks, and your treatment of the cup reminds me of them.

Though it's different to hold the accorn in your hands, and feel it before drawing, Google can be so helpful sometimes!
