Windsor Inspired

After visiting Windsor castle with Linda Sue and Stella the other weekend, I wanted to make a soldier with a bearskin. The bearskins and the shiny, shiny boots are the two things that stand out the most for me about their uniform, obviously not the white belt or the dark blue trousers, both of which I got wrong! The bearskin hats are still made of bearskin, as they have not found an acceptable synthetic alternative. They obviously have not thought about crochet!

Ha, you make me laugh! a crocheted bearskin!
It must be busy with all the celebrations going on in your fair city. I watched a Canadian (CBC) tv documentary on the Queen. She will always have a soft spot in my heart.

WOW This is pure genius! Windsor is amazing on all levels especially the part about YOU, and the pearly's.
I think that crochet hats is a fabulous idea- and so do the bears! You are their QUEEN!
By the time I left England I was all about the diamond jubilee- finally purchased a fabulous plastic bag from Harrods in the airport! It is blue- it is queenly! So sorry we missed her by five minutes that day! Just gotta love the Queen!
I most certainly love your guard- the octopus is a bit bent about it but admires his brother's style! He sends his best octo wishes...

Handsome devil, isn't he? What a great look and so much more acceptable than real bearskin. I hope you can relax a bit until the moving day, are you relaxing? xxxx

I agree with you and Linda Sue. Someone needs to crochet they hats so they'll leave the bears alone. Love your little castle guard.
