If I am ever organised or successful enough to exhibit anything anywhere, I will have a handcrafted and tactile notice inviting people to 'Please Touch'. This is a work by
Shauna Richardson of large lion fame, shown at the woolly wonderland. I was pleased to be able to see it so close up, but I really wanted to touch it! I didn't though, as I am a pretty obedient person most of the time. I just imagined how it might feel. I did, however, touch the sheep, as I didn't see the notice until it was too late. They are Gotland sheep, and their wool is so soft. I used some once to make the
hair of a felted head lady, as it was just the sort of grey curls that I wanted.
When it says do not touch...I always want to touch it..its just law of human nature ha ha ha
ReplyDeleteIt is so inviting to touch, such a lovely work! I would have to not only touch it but cuddle it! AND the sheep, aren't they wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWhen you do have a show make sure the "please touch" sign is big! I had a book in a show once and everyone was too shy to flip through it. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI've had a lovely visit through the last few posts. Love your needles, colours, and sights! xo Carole
That is an amazing soft sculpture. Very tempting to touch. I don't think I could have resisted the sheep either. What beautiful wool.
ReplyDeleteIt is frustrating, I agree. I suppose she doesn't want it to get greasy with lots of people touching, but perhaps she should make it washable in that case! :)
ReplyDeleteThese sheep are all just beautiful! Ros
